Pick-your-own Fruit Farms around Potsdam

Summertime is fruit time. Fruit Farms are full of wonderful fruit trees and bushes full of fruit only waiting to be picked. Here you can pick your own fruit and pay for what you have picked on your way out. At home you can then make your fruit into cakes, jams or fruit jellies. Bring your children on this fun outing – they´ll love it! In general the farms have their own shops and offer regional products such as juices, jams, sausages & cheese, beer & wine etc.. More attractions are to be found for your children: Animals like donkeys, dogs, cats, chickens, etc. are an integral part of farm life. Some farms also offer big playgrounds or seasonal attractions like pumpkin exhibitions or ice sculptures. Please find some fruit farms listed below.

The yellow ribbon – help yourself to the fruit, it’s for free

If you see a fruit tree on the road with a yellow ribbon around its trunk, you can help yourself to the fruit without hesitation: The tree is explicitly marked for self-harvesting, because the owners do not manage to harvest the fruit themselves. The nationwide initiative originated in Baden-Württemberg and was launched to coincide with the „Germany saves food“ campaign week. „Local fruit is delicious and healthy and too good to rot,“ said Brandenburg’s State Secretary for Consumer Protection Anna Heyer-Stuffer at the launch of the campaign.

„Orchard meadows in particular now offer a wonderful opportunity to grow regional supplies or process them fresh.“ Among the participants in the action is the Langerwischer Obstgarten, at www.gelbesband-brandenburg.de interested parties can see where there are other sites for independent harvesting.

Another possibility is the website www.mundraub.org, which has existed for a long time and where, in addition to freely accessible fruit trees and orchards, herbs and nut bushes are also listed.
