Potsdam Rooftop Pitch 2022 — Preparations enter the decisive phase

Pitch events often form the mark-up for large projects in science parks, large cities and industrial sites — this is where investors and young startups find their way to each other. For the third time, a very special event of this kind will take place with the Rooftop Pitch Potsdam, with evening flair above the rooftops of the state capital Potsdam – a location that successfully combines science, business and the capital region.

In the background, preparations are currently in full swing: The application round for interested startups from Potsdam and the surrounding area recently came to an end. Twenty-one startups submitted their pitch decks for this year’s Rooftop Pitch Potsdam, and ten selected start-up teams will be able to present themselves to potential investors on May 16. The spectrum of industries ranges – that much can already be revealed – from biotechnology to health, lifestyle/wellness to logistics and media/ICT.

We are particularly pleased with the applications from the Potsdam Science Park, but we have also received applications from other locations in Potsdam and Berlin, such as the MediaTech Hub Accelerator and the HPI School of Entrepreneurship. In the next step, the jury will review and evaluate the pitch decks. The jury members are made up of an established network that supports the Potsdam startup scene: Potsdam Transfer, MediaTech Hub Accelerator, Economic Development of the City of Potsdam (WFBB), Business Angel Club Berlin Brandenburg and Knappworst Steuerberatung. The overall evaluation of this year’s jurors will determine which ten startups will be at this year’s Rooftop Pitch Potsdam.

As part of the event, Bernd Rubelt, Alderman for Urban Development, Construction, Economy and Environment of the City of Potsdam, Nils Karn, founder of Mitigant, and the founders of Valupa will present aspects of Potsdam’s start-up scene. Each startup then has 10 minutes to pitch over the rooftops of the state capital. Afterwards, investors and startups will have the opportunity to talk to each other over snacks and cool drinks.

The Rooftop Pitch Potsdam is taking place for the third time — with the recipe for success that only one person from each startup team can be sent to the pitch. In this way, you inevitably get into conversation with new people. The summary of the participants last year was clear: rarely have so many new and interesting contacts been made.

The Potsdam Rooftop Pitch is an event of the Potsdam Science Park. It is part of the extensive portfolio of services for founders at the innovation location. Open lecture formats such as the Science2Go series, the workshops of the Startup Academy with start-up-related topics, consultation appointments for those interested in founding a company through partner institutions, a co-working space for startups and relevant network contacts are other options from which the location community benefits in the growing ecosystem. This means that scientists interested in founding a company as well as newly settled startups and companies can find extensive support in the Potsdam Science Park for possible spin-offs or connections to industry.

The partners of the Potsdam Network for Start-up Support work closely together: founders are directed to suitable network partners or interesting support formats are arranged, and event offers are bundled. The network works directly together in the organization of some projects.
