8,200 Visitors Attend the 12th Potsdam Science Day at the Potsdam Science Park
What happens when music influences heart rate, snails showcase different slime types, a beetle changes colour under 3D light, or quantum computers are made from stardust? Guests found answers to these and many more questions at the 12th Potsdam Science Day, held on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at Potsdam Science Park. With over 200 programme highlights, the event sparked dialogue between research and society, delighting both families and professionals alike.
From Snail Slime to Stardust
In bright spring sunshine, 8,200 visitors explored more than 200 interactive exhibits from 40 universities and research institutions across Potsdam and Brandenburg.
Among the highlights: sustainable colour pigments, a magical beetle, hands-on stations on ocean currents, drone surveying, neuro-rehabilitation games, and a virtual encounter with Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer, who had passed away just the day before. Visitors also experienced augmented reality on geological structures, quirky place names, a children’s research rally, the teddy bear clinic and much more. From hands-on ancient history and compostable film production to creative student projects – curiosity was sparked, experiments conducted and imaginations inspired.
Dr Simone Leinkauf, Managing Director of proWissen Potsdam, expressed great satisfaction: “We are thrilled by the response. We’ve never had so many programme points – and never such a diverse mix of scientific depth, family appeal and open dialogue. The Potsdam Science Day is a celebration of knowledge that truly brings people together.”
