Eat with a local!

We are starting the third round of this event and would like to invite you as an international scientist to take part in it. As an international it might not always be easy to get to know the locals. Nor do the locals often really know what is going on the ‘other side of the rail tracks’, in the scientific institutes. We would like to support locals in Eiche/Golm and the international scientists at Potsdam Science Park to connect over a dinner or lunch. We will match you up in couples of two scientists with local families/persons. Learn about life in Potsdam from your host and give them a glimpse into your science. This event is all about connecting, exchange and getting to know each other.

Please register now if you would like to be matched with a local family. The dinners or lunches will take place from May 12 until August 31, 2025.

A present for your host

As it is custom in Germany to bring a little something when being invited to a meal, we will prepare a bag with some give aways and information about the Potsdam Science Park for you to give your host family/person. After May 05, 2025 you can pick up your bag at the office of the Welcome Service (GO:IN, 3rd floor, room 307). We suggest adding something from your home country as well if you can. It does not need to be big or expensive – e.g. special drinks, sweets, tea, flowers or offer to bring a dessert from your home country.

Note:

With your registration you agree that we are allowed to communicate your email address to a local family/person. Please schedule a time for your dinner or lunch with your host. We ask both the hosts and internationals to answer a few questions regarding their contact information and their hobbies and food restrictions. We use this information to match people with compatible interests. Anyone in the community who is interested in befriending our internationals is welcome to participate, regardless of age or family structure.

General data protection notice:

The data you enter in the online form will be used by Standortmanagement Golm GmbH exclusively for sending information on the organization and handling of the selected event as well as for comparable information offers of the Standortmanagement Golm GmbH/location management of the Potsdam Science Park.

Film and photo recordings:

During the event, film and photo recordings will be made, which will be used to document the event and as part of the press and public relations work of Standortmanagement Golm GmbH for the Potsdam Science Park.
