Fraunhofer Solutions And New World-Class Companies

Strong in research – the two Fraunhofer Institutes at the Potsdam Science Park: Learn what Fraunhofer IAP Institute Director Prof. Dr. Alexander Böker and Dr. Eva Ehrentreich-Förster, Director (acting) at the Fraunhofer IZI-BB, see this growing research location in Potsdam-Golm. Both emphasize the excellent collaboration and settlement opportunities at the Potsdam Science Park.

Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP work on polymers, so plastics of all kinds, for a wide range of applications. This ranges from medical technology to carbon fibres for aircraft or wind turbines – in some cases areas where you would never imagine that polymers are involved. Particularly innovative are the approaches to the production of carbon fibres. And at the Fraunhofer IAP, scientists have succeeded in using renewable raw materials for this.

In the laboratories of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, Branch Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses IZI-BB scientists work with a focus on innovations in the fields of food and environmental analysis, diagnostics, drug development and process engineering. The institute has a large and very well-equipped cell culture and S2-approved area where scientists work on infection prevention, as well as animal disease pathogens and genetic engineering with safety-relevant issues up to the S2 level.
