CITY CYCLING 2025: Ride with Us for a Climate-Friendly Potsdam – Join Team »Potsdam Science Park« Now!
From June 2 to 22, 2025, it’s time to hop on your bike and ride for a good cause! The Potsdam Science Park invites researchers, staff, students, local residents, and partners to join our team for this year’s CITY CYCLING challenge. The goal: collect as many bike kilometers as possible in 21 days – and contribute actively to climate protection and your own well-being.
Why Take Part?
Because it’s fun and impactful! CITY CYCLING is a nationwide, friendly competition for anyone who enjoys cycling. All you need is a bike and the CITY CYCLING app, which allows you to log your kilometers—whether you’re commuting, heading to university, or cycling for leisure. Every kilometer counts!
CITY CYCLING is organized by the Climate Alliance and brings together municipalities, businesses, and institutions across Germany. The Potsdam Science Park has proudly participated for several years. In 2024, 71 participants from our team rode a total of 14,329 kilometers—saving approximately 2,378.5 kg of CO₂. Leading the charge were three researchers from our two Fraunhofer institutes. City-wide, over 3,700 cyclists in more than 190 teams logged a total of around 626,000 kilometers for Potsdam, avoiding roughly 96 tons of CO₂ (based on 142 grams per person-kilometer). This year, we’re aiming to go even further—together!
