DIVE IN 2021 – Immerse yourself in the Potsdam Science Park as a place of the future

Press release, Potsdam, March 29, 2021. As an innovative and fast-growing science location in the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region, the Potsdam Science Park brings together international cutting-edge and basic research, university education and research-related production. As part of the online event DIVE IN on April 12, 2021, site management and site partners of the park will now present the new areas for research-related companies and startups developed in the course of the expansion of the area.

Press release, Potsdam, March 29, 2021 – Innovation, high-tech, start-ups – numerous new buildings are growing on the grounds of the Potsdam Science Park, which will house new companies in a few months. This will also create new jobs at the site. As part of the virtual DIVE IN workshop on April 12, 2021, interested investors, entrepreneurs and founders will now have the opportunity to discover the place of the future with its numerous available commercial, office and laboratory spaces, to find suitable space for their own needs and to talk to the location partners about possible settlements. In 2021 alone, more than 10,000 m2 will be newly available – up to 43,000 m2 in the coming years.

As part of the comprehensive program, the site management of the Potsdam Science Park, the state capital of Potsdam, the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB) and location partners will present the fast-growing research and innovation location. In addition, participants will gain an insight into Laboratory 4.0 – the networked laboratory of the future.

Room for innovation

Technology- and research-oriented medium-sized companies are likely to be particularly interested in the presentation of the GO:IN 2 of the Technologie- und Gewerbezentren Potsdam GmbH: The office and laboratory complex in the immediate vicinity of the GO:IN and the institutes of the Fraunhofer and Max Planck Society will be completed in June of this year and will offer new tenants individual opportunities to use flexible, small-scale laboratory space and offices with high technical standards and modern equipment.
Immediately next door, the H-LAB office and laboratory building of the project developer and property developer PROJECT Immobilien will open its doors at the end of the year. Half of the space has already been rented.

Room for growth

The Technology Campus is primarily aimed at companies from the fields of medical technology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical technologies and cosmetics, optics, sensor technology, materials science and polymer technologies. North of the university campus, four of the total ten hectares are still for sale by ProPotsdam GmbH. The possibility of flexibly dividing the plots of land allows it to be adapted to the space requirements of small, medium-sized and large companies.

Space for community and cooperation

From autumn 2021 to summer 2024, a total of four new laboratory and office buildings will also be built in the immediate vicinity of Golm railway station as the first building block of the “Neue Mitte Golm”. The multi-part complex, which is being developed by the HEGEMANN GROUP, is intended to take into account the needs of research-based companies as well as the requirements of the citizens of Potsdam-Golm for an attractive new place to stay.

Space for education

On the other hand, the new home of the Institute of Computer Science and Computational Science at the University of Potsdam is already ready. The new building is the first building block in the expansion of the Golm campus of the University of Potsdam. Since March 2021, workplaces have been available here for around 100 employees and around 800 students.
And the health sciences are also to become even more present in the future: On December 9, 2020, the state of Brandenburg acquired an almost 4,300 square meter plot of land in the southwest of the university campus. With the property, which has already been designated as a special building area for higher education and research in the land use plan, new space is being created in the Potsdam Science Park for the University of Potsdam, which is currently growing strongly due to the expansion of teacher training and the new Joint Faculty of Health Sciences.
