More sustainability with biotechnology and bioeconomy – PSP Conference on 20 October in Potsdam
Press release | Will biotechnology become the new all-purpose solution? Under the motto “Biotechnology and Bioeconomy – Course of the Future”, science and companies from leading future industries will come together at the PSP Conference on October 20 in the Potsdam Science Park. The focus is on more sustainable products and processes in the life sciences, from medicine and health to nutrition.
As Potsdam’s innovation forum, the PSP Conference is increasingly attracting scientists, innovation drivers and decision-makers who are looking for cooperation, technology transfer and new thematic impulses on current future topics. The Potsdam Science Park offers numerous points of contact for this. “It was very important to us to look at the sustainable potential of biochemistry and microbiology, medicine and process engineering at the PSP Conference,” says Agnes von Matuschka, who organizes the conference every year with a number of partners.
Developments and successes of biotechnology
This year’s programme of the PSP Conference presents innovations and success stories from health and medicine to nutrition, cosmetics and agriculture. Dr. Manuel Bauer from Ernst & Young GmbH will share current developments in the biotechnology industry. Tatjana Kasper from the Göttingen Life Science Factory will report on relevant success factors for biotechnology start-ups in the life sciences. Dr. Martin Langer from Brain Biotech AG will talk about the use of biotechnology in food production.
Solutions from companies from the Potsdam Science Park and other regions will also be presented, including AI-based efficacy analyses for precise predictions in drug development, faster DNA analysis methods for sepsis diagnostics and cellulose-based additives for microplastic-free cosmetics. At the Startup Pitch, founding teams will present innovative approaches from working with bees, genomics, a mobile eye clinic, an app for people with dementia, weed control with microwaves and blood tests for at home. In the preceding panel discussion, successful founders will talk to investors about the financing of start-ups and the relevance of tailor-made programs for successful growth.
