The city of Potsdam has been awarded with the “child-friendly community” seal from Unicef and is one of cities with the largest population of children in Germany. Accordingly, Potsdam provides a lot of activities and open spaces for families and children.

Freundschaftsinsel
Freundschaftsinsel hosts a beloved and spacious playground with a nautical theme: the jungle gyms look like ship skeletons stuck in the sand. A restaurant and bathroom facilities are nearby, but not directly at the playground. Highlights include a nest swing, slide, water games / mud pit, monkey bars, wobble bridge, jungle gym, and sand box. For ages 0-12.

Volkspark Potsdam
The Volkspark Potsdam offers a variety of different playgrounds and recreation areas. The rustic playground “ZickZack in die Wipfel” offers many possibilities for climbing, dangling and balancing under old oak trees. A small grotto becomes a robber’s cave, new surprises await you around every corner in the labyrinth and the whole family fits into the large nest swing. Like a futuristic octopus, the giant slide with its metal tube slides reaches into the landscape and, with its twelve-metre-high winding tubes, offers a special kind of sliding fun. The water playground is the summer highlight of the Volkspark: here you will find a 900 square metre water pool with wooden rafts, a fine “sandy beach”, water-spouting fish, a lawn for sunbathing and a café in the park for ice cream, meals or snacks. On the “pirate boats”, the toddlers quickly turn into big pirates. For older children, the large skate park in the Sportwall has mini ramps, half pipes, quarter pipes and ramps for skateboarders and BMX riders. Waldbad Templin
In summer the Waldbad Templin provides the perfect place for a family adventure. Swim in the lake, play some beach volleyball or enjoy the different slides and playgrounds for kids of different ages. You can also take a short trip on the lake in a pedal boat, try your hand at the wakeboard facility or go for a ride on the banana (please book in advance). Open from the end of April to the middle of September, depending on the weather. A day ticket for adults costs 4€, children from 2-16 cost 2€, children under 2 are free.

Abenteuerpark Potsdam
The large and spacious AbenteuerPark Potsdam is an enormously varied climbing park that offers a variety of climbing experiences. Different levels of difficulty, each with a continuous safety system, guarantee that everyone can safely test out their individual limits. The climbing forest has 170 different climbing elements at a height of up to 12 m with a total length of 1.7 kilometres.
The highlight of the climbing forest is the 200-metre-long giant rope slide. Team events, private parties, school excursions and children’s birthday parties can also be held in the Adventure Park. Snacks, coffee specialities, beverages and ice cream are offered in the forest bistro. There is even a sun terrace and a beer garden to relax in.
