Science Knows no Borders – for Freedom and Democracy

The location management (Standortmanagement Golm GmbH) of the Potsdam Science Park is a member of the association Neues Potsdamer Toleranzedikt (New Potsdam Tolerance Edict). Together with numerous Potsdam science institutions and the proWissen Potsdam association, we take a stand for freedom, democracy, Germany’s Basic Law – and for the internationality of Science.

Science knows no borders. The freedom of science, the diversity of international research teams, tolerance and cosmopolitanism are the basic principles to enable and foster innovation.

In the Potsdam Science Park, people from over 70 nations work together in research institutes and companies on new solutions for the great challenges of our time.  Our success and the innovative power are based on the principle of freedom. The free choice of research topics, new ideas, diverse perspectives and open discourse are just as essential as the protection against discrimination provided for in Germany’s Basic Law.

It Is Time to Take a Stand

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Germany’s Basic Law and it is time to take a stand because our democracy is under threat. We become increasingly aware that the freedom and diversity of science cannot be taken for granted.

The association Neues Potsdamer Toleranzedikt e.V. is calling for participation. We are hereby sharing the current appeal for the “Brandenburg shows attitude!” campaign, perhaps you would share the information with your network.
