Starting signal for CITY CYCLING in Potsdam — We are there!
Pedaling together: From 6 to 26 September 2021, cycling enthusiasts from Potsdam and other interested parties will once again take part in Climate Alliance’s international CITY CYCLING campaign. The Potsdam Science Park is once again participating in the campaign this year with numerous interested cyclists.
For three weeks, the aim is to cover as many distances as possible by bike in a climate-friendly way in everyday life and to record these routes with an app. Participants will learn how much CO² they save by cycling as a means of transport compared to the car, and the state capital of Potsdam will gain an overview of busy cycling routes in the city area.
The CITY CYCLING campaign is designed as a competition in which the bicycle is promoted as an everyday means of transport with a lot of fun. The aim is to collect the most bicycle kilometres individually or as a team and thus actively save CO2. The aim is also to cover the most kilometres per inhabitant of a city by bike. In addition to the most hard-working teams and cyclists, Germany’s most cycling-active municipality and the most cycling-active city parliament are also being sought. All municipalities throughout Germany compete against each other.
Throughout the city of Potsdam, schools, science locations, institutions and companies have registered to participate in the campaign. A total of 166 teams are participating.
The current status in the bicycle meter
At the beginning of the campaign, almost 100 people registered for the “Potsdam Science Park” team. Scientists, employees, students and residents from the Golm district cycle as a team in six subgroups. The assignment takes place at the time of registration. You can see how many of the registered participants have already started and how many kilometers have been collected together in the bike meter of the Potsdam Science Park.

Registration for CITY CYCLING 2021 is also still possible at a later date! All you need is a bike, your mobile phone and the CITY CYCLING app.
When creating the profile, you join the main team “Potsdam Science Park”. You can join your sub-team after creating the profile under “Settings”. Below is a list of the teams:
