Language Courses
We offer courses in “German as a second language” for beginners to advanced learners. We will help you to communicate better, navigate everyday situations and to get to know the German culture. Topics such as professional communication, presentations or correspondence in German can also be part of your course.
Your English language skills can be improved in one of our diverse English courses. You can work on improving your pronunciation or work specifically on professional requirements. Whether you are a beginner or advanced speaker, need help with informal or professional conversation, the courses can be tailored to your needs.
Our courses are only for employees at Potsdam Science Park, their spouses and people, who are in anyway connected to the Potsdam Science Park. For information please see contact person below.

How long does a course last?
A course always consists of 36 lessons (UE).
When does the employer pay the costs?
If and to what extent the costs for a language course will be covered depends on your employer. Please contact us for further information.
What does a course cost as an employee of a contractual partner (such as MPI)?
It is up to your employer if, to what extent and to what language level the costs for your courses will be covered. If you would like to continue privately beyond what is paid for by your employer, we will grant you a 25% discount as a long-term student.
What is the cost of a course for relatives of an employee of the contractual partner?
The costs vary depending on whether your partner’s employer has also negotiated discounts for the relatives.
How much does a course cost if you pay privately?
A small group course of 36 lessons costs 468€.
How much does one-on-one instruction cost?
A lesson of 45 min costs 46€.
Can the course be covered via an education voucher or by the unemployment agency?
It is also possible to have the course covered by an education voucher. We kindly ask you to inform yourself and procure the voucher privately.
Is there an exam at the end of the course?
No. Our courses end with a certificate of participation.
Do you get a certificate?
Yes, we issue a certificate of participation at the end of the course.
Are the courses officially recognized (is the school certified)?
No, the school is not certified.
What qualifications do the teachers have?
All teachers have a qualification as a “German as a Foreign Language” lecturer and/or CELTA qualification.
Do course materials cost extra? If so, how much?
Fees for course materials is limited to the course book for each level. For German books the cost is 22,50 €. The costs of English books vary.
Do I have to buy a new book for each course?
No, only for each level (A1, A2, B1, etc.).
When do I receive the bill?
Usually at the beginning of the course.
How can I pay for the course?
The invoice can be paid by bank transfer or cash in up to three installments.
Can I pay the course in installments?
Yes, in up to three installments.

General Information
Please note that the Welcome Service and the language school are working partly from the home office and partly from the office at GO:IN. All language courses take place as online or face-to-face courses. We are available for questions by phone and e-mail. We are happy to offer personal and online consultations by appointment.
If you would like to pay your guest house bill in cash or by EC/credit card, we kindly ask you to pay according to the opening hours of the guesthouse administration.
